Step 1: Alignment Check: Before installation, ensure the transmission and the middle support bearing are properly aligned. Misalignment is the #1 cause of shaft failure.
Step 2: Phase Inspection: Verify that the universal joint yokes are in the same plane (in-phase). Genuine Sinotruk shafts come with alignment marks—ensure they line up.
Step 3: Torque Tightening: Use new high-strength bolts for the XS165 flange. Tighten in a star pattern to the specified torque setting found in your HOWO service manual.
Step 4: Lubrication: After installation, grease the U-joints and the slip yoke using heavy-duty lithium-based grease until you see fresh grease purging from the seals.
