How to Install the Sinotruk HOWO Shift Fork (AZ2214220001) – Technician Tips
Preparation: Safely lift the vehicle, drain transmission oil, and remove the gearbox. Keep the work area clean to avoid contamination.
Selector Rail Access: Remove the side cover and locate the selector rail for 3rd/4th gears. Identify the retaining bolt or pin securing the old fork.
Remove Worn Fork: Loosen the mounting hardware and slide off the damaged fork. Inspect for bending, groove wear, or cracks — common after high-torque shifting.
Fit New Fork (AZ2214220001): Slide the new forged steel fork onto the selector rod. Ensure full contact with the synchronizer sleeve; movement should be smooth without binding.
Torque Specification: Reinstall fastener and tighten to 20–22 Nm. Do not over-tighten — risk of thread stripping is high on aluminum cases.
Test Before Closing: Manually move the rail back and forth. Check for free travel and even resistance. No grinding or sticking allowed.
Final Reassembly: Reinstall transmission, reconnect linkages, refill with GL-5 80W-90 gear oil, and test shift quality at low RPM before full operation.
