How to Replace the Shift Fork WG2214220098 – Technician’s Guide
Preparation: Lift the vehicle safely, drain transmission oil, and remove the gearbox. Work in a clean environment to prevent debris from entering the housing.
Access the Selector Rail: Remove the side cover and locate the 3rd/4th gear selector rail. Use a punch to drive out the retaining pin or bolt securing the old fork.
Remove Old Fork: Slide the worn fork off the selector rod. Inspect for cracks, groove deformation, or excessive play — common after prolonged high-torque use.
Install New Fork (WG2214220098): Align the new forged steel fork onto the rod, ensuring full contact with the synchronizer sleeve. The fork legs must move freely without binding.
Secure & Torque: Reinstall the mounting bolt and tighten to 20–22 Nm. Do not exceed — risk of thread failure is high on aluminum housings.
Test Before Final Assembly: Manually slide the rail back and forth. Movement should be smooth, with no grinding or resistance.
Rebuild & Refill: Reinstall transmission, reconnect linkages, and refill with GL-5 80W-90 gear oil. Test shift quality at low RPM before full operation.
