How to Install the Sinotruk HOWO Shift Fork (WG2214220072) – Technician Tips
Pre-Work Check: Disconnect battery ground, drain transmission oil, and safely remove gearbox. Clean all external surfaces before disassembly.
Selector Rod Access: Remove the shift rail plug and extract the selector rod. Take note of fork orientation — this model engages with the 3rd/4th gear synchro sleeve.
Fork Removal: Loosen retaining bolt and slide off old fork. Inspect for groove wear or bending — common failure signs include grinding noises during shifts.
New Fork Fitment: Slide new WG2214220072 fork onto the selector rod. Ensure legs align precisely with the synchronizer hub; there should be no lateral play.
Torque & Reassembly: Tighten mounting bolt to 20 Nm ± 2 Nm. Over-tightening may crack the fork base. Reinstall rail and test movement by hand before closing case.
Final Test: Refill with recommended GL-5 80W-90 gear oil. Perform neutral-to-gear cycling manually if possible. Start engine only after full reassembly.
